He had done just that by working the fields from an early age. He liked the hard work almost as much as he liked being alone. He usually ploughed his parents' fields himself without help from tractor or cattle and at the end of each day, he rejoiced at the work he had done. He had given his sweat to the world, and it would feed him in return. As far as he was concerned, it was an equitable deal. Shanvi was a still a child when he was recruited to fight in the BahNu arenas. The BahNu were impressed by the young Neosian's strength and imposing stature, and they knew he would make a good addition to their fighters. Unfortunately, Shanvi was a very timid Neosian and hated fighting. That did not last long, however. The BahNu had tried to enlist Neosians in their arenas, but for the most part, these refused to fight other Neosians. The BahNu had then decided to bring fighters from other parts of their dominion. These had no qualms about fighting Neosians and the BahNu did not care if the Neosian decided to fight or not. As long as one of the combatants died, the fans were happy. Shanvi soon learned that he would need to fight to survive. And survive he did. The BahNu often made him fight barehanded, as the fans were enthralled by his strength. Shanvi could tear the arms off most fighters sent against him. Sometimes, the only weapons allowed were large boulders. Rare were the fighters who could lift them, but Shanvi did so with ease and used them to literally crush the competition. Shanvi was in the arena when the Guardian destroyed the BahNu's ships and weapons. Seeing the opportunity to flee, he and other fighters turned their rage against their captors. Shanvi used the boulders strewn on the floor of the arena and used them as projectiles to crush any BahNu in sight. Shanvi then felt the gaze of the Guardian upon him. "Your world has suffered long enough," the Guardian echoed in his mind. "It is time for you to join Rubikhon in her fight to save it. Join her, Geomass, and continue to crush those who would do it harm." That day, Shanvi-Reev was no more. He had been defeated in the arena. Geomass had been the victor and was now one of the Children of the Guardian. Some 250 years later, a being showed up in the Neosian system, and Geomass was the first to respond to this intrusion. He battled the being, whom he thought was a new BahNu weapon, but he later learned that this being was also a child of the Guardian. His name was Silverlance. Geomass and Silverlance became good friends, and their friendship grew even more after Silverlance settled permanently on Neosa. For 80 years, they fought alongside until the arrival of the rogue guardian, Q'Aestor. Geomass was sent to warn Silverlance's former team, Gaia Force, of the impending threat that Q'Aestor represented. Alongside Silverlance's former allies, Geomass fought and helped defeat the rogue guardian. Geomass eventually joined the New Gaia Force. Powers Geokinesis: Geomass can tap an unlimited amount of matter and expel it in the form of meteorites. He can shape this matter into masses approaching the size of dwarf planets. Using this power, he fashioned all of Neosa's artificial moons, and on one occasion, Geomass has moulded his rocky discharge into a protective suit. Geomass can also control rocks and soil in general, but he can only reabsorb matter he has created. Space travel: Geomass can survive and travel the rigorous expanses of interplanetary space. Super strength: Geomass is the strongest of the Neosians, although his teammate Collapsar would beg to differ. The truth, however, is that Geomass is the stronger of the two, but Collapsar can match him using his gravity powers. Self-sustaining: His body is nourished by starlight thus eliminating his need to eat. He can, however, enjoy the experience, and often enjoys a good beer at the Rogues' Café. Physical/energy resistance: He can resist attacks of the highest magnitude. Omnilinguilism: Geomass can communicate with any intelligent species through guardian speech, an ability that emits vocal messages on multiple frequencies, including the psionic. Enhanced vision: He can see in various modes and can stare directly at the sun. Extended lifespan: Geomass has already lived over 600 years, and he still shows no signs of aging. Weaknesses: Although no one but Q'Aestor managed to extract the Guardian energies out of other guardians, it stands to reason that Geomass would be susceptible to the same technique. |
